Read about Covid tests for travel to France in March 2022. What are the rules for travel to France? When do you have to take Covid tests? What type of Covid tests? Where can you get Covid tests?
17th March 2022
From the early hours of Friday 18th March 2022, all remaining Covid rules related to travel to the UK will be scrapped, reports the BBC.
This includes abolishing the requirements for Covid tests and the passenger locator form.
You still have to comply with French rules when travelling to France from the UK.
France has a traffic light system of Covid rules for travel from other countries, as set out on the Ministry of the Interior's International Travel page. In fact at the time of writing, as well as green, amber, red, there is scarlet (very high Covid risk). The UK is rated amber.
Fully vaccinated people can enter France from the UK provided they:
France accepts the NHS Covid Pass, Scotland's NHS Covid Status Pass, or Northern Ireland's COVIDCert NI app, according to the BBC.
Travel to France is much more restricted for anyone who has not been vaccinated. The conditions are set out on the Certificate of International Travel that you have to complete, and they include:
The French Embassy website says that if you are required to get a test for travel to France, it must be certified by a laboratory. You can't use NHS tests, so you have to pay a private provider.
Boots have a range of Covid testing services. You can go to one of their shops for a PCR test or buy an at-home testing kit where you then send the sample to a lab for the results.
When in France, those aged 11 and over have to wear a mask on public transport and in hospitals, clinics and care homes.
A pass sanitaire was needed for those aged 12 and over to get into certain venues including bars, restaurants and ski lifts. The pass sanitaire appears to have been scrapped altogether from 14th March 2022, except in hospitals, clinics and care homes.
The pass vaccinal replaced the pass sanitaire, but it was suspended on 14th March 2022.
Val Thorens tourist office says the pass sanitaire is no longer required to access the ski lifts from 14th March 2022.
Masks are mandatory in enclosed ski lifts (gondolas, funitels, cable cars), and are recommended in other situations.
Val Thorens tourist office website says that you can get a PCR test in Place Péclet, Val Thorens (book first at the web address they give), or an antigen test at the Pharmacy (Galerie Péclet) or the Medical Centre (Place Péclet).
As of 18th March 2022, no requirements apply when travelling back to the UK.
Warning: the Conservative Party has stripped us of our rights and made travel to France much harder, for no good reason. Please do not vote for the Conservative Party; they are actively working against our interests.
As well as the obstacles and administrative requirements related to Covid, the Conservatives have deliberately made travel to France more inconvenient and more expensive due to their awful Brexit.
The Conservative Party's appalling xenophobic Brexit has made life a lot harder for British people who worked ski seasons in France, or ruined it altogether.

Skiing Made Easy is a practical guide to learning to ski, based on many happy seasons of ski teaching in Val Thorens. Most of the demonstrations are performed by my friend and fellow Val Thorens ski instructor Marina.
