An independent guide to Val Thorens
You may wish to check the webcams regularly in the build-up to a ski trip, or see what the conditions are like on the mountain before you go out skiing in the morning. If that's you, look no further! Here, we have a selection of Val Thorens webcams, to give you the best view of the ski area.
We feature the tourist office's webcam at the Rond Point des Pistes (pictured above); the webcams at the top of the 2 Lacs and Moutière chairlifts; and the webcams on Plein Sud, and at plan Bouchet (Orelle). Note that some of these may only be operational during the ski season, but the Rond Point des Pistes webcam shows images all year round.
The Rond Point des Pistes webcam is on the hut at the top of the Campagnols magic carpet (pictured above). The webcam is the white, cone-shaped attachment, on the roof of the hut. It shows a 360-degree panorama, and gives an excellent view of Val Thorens, so you can see the weather and conditions. It is operated by the Val Thorens tourist office and lift company.
Consult the webcam at the resort centre (Rond Point des Pistes).
The webcam at La Maison shows place Caron and the top of the Castor & Pollux magic carpets, plus there's a view across the roof of the Sports Centre to a significant proportion of the Val Thorens ski area.
Consult the webcam at La Maison restaurant.
The webcam at the top of the 2 Lacs chair shows live video, rather than still images. You can see the 2 Lacs restaurant, the resort of Val Thorens, the Stade, and even across to Plein Sud.
Consult the 2 Lacs webcam.
The webcam at the top of the Moutiere chairlift is also installed and run by the resort of Val Thorens. Unlike the Rond Point des Pistes webcam, it isn't always updated or kept operating outside the ski season.
Consult the Moutière webcam.
The webcam at the top of the Funitel de Thorens is at 3000m, on the ridge between Val Thorens and Orelle.

There's a webcam on Plein Sud, at the bottom of the Funitel 3 Valleys and 3 Valleys chairlift. It gives you a view of the Goitschel piste above and the Plein Sud piste below, plus the Pionniers and Plein Sud arrival stations.
Consult the Plein Sud webcam.
The webcam at the top of the Funitel 3 Valleys shows gives a good view from the ridge between Val Thorens and Méribel Mottaret.

At 3200m, the Cime de Caron is one of the high points of the Val Thorens ski area. This webcam is on the arrival station of the cable car. On a day when there's a temperature inversion, with cloud sitting in the valley, you might use it in the morning to check whether the top of the ski area is above the clouds.
Consult the Cime de Caron webcam.
There's a webcam at plan Bouchet, Orelle. It shows the top of the Orelle bubble, the bottom of the Peyron chairlift, and the Chalet Chinal Donat mountain restaurant.
Consult the plan Bouchet Orelle webcam.
This webcam is on the hut of the zip wire (la Tyrolienne), at the top of the Bouchet chairlift in Orelle. It's at 3230m, higher than any other lift in the 3 Valleys.
