London ski show 2012

On Friday 2nd November 2012, we visited the Ski and Snowboard Show at Earl's Court, London, to see what's new, and what's being promoted for the coming ski season.

They had a dry ski slope, a jump and airbag, and an ice rink.

The latest skis were on view, including the award-winning Atomic Alibi skis, and an attractively-designed White Dot range.

There were even Husky dogs.

They had set up a dry slope, and beginners' lessons were on offer. There were also small jumps on one side of the slope, and a bigger jump, landing on an airbag.

London Ski and Snowboard show - Arctic Quest husky dogs

Our vote for the stars of the show goes to the husky dogs brought along by Arctic Quest, who offer sled dog trekking near Tewksbury. The sleds run on wheels (or presumably on runners, when it's snowy). You can even stay in a Tipi on the farm.

London ski show 2012: gadgets

A few gadgets caught our eye at the ski show. The Ski-Walker and Board-Walker are easy-to-use strap-on handles, that help carry skis and snowboards, and could come in handy, especially for families.

The Nippergrip could be useful for small children. It's a harness/reins, for skiing with children before they're able to fully control their speed, and has a handle front and back, to make it easier to pick them up when they fall over, and help them onto chairlifts.

Amongst the skis on display were the Atomic Alibis, voted Ski of the Year 2012-13 by Fall-Line magazine. It's a freeride ski, and Fall-Line says it offers great performance, versatility, nice graphics, and good value for money.

White Dot were also present at the ski show. They are an independent company, who have been making skis for five years. They only have a small range of freeride skis, but they aim to use good quality materials, and build their skis well. The graphics on their skis are a 'Wallpaper' design.
