September 2012 report
In the photos on this page, you can see Val Thorens in late September 2012.
It's the inter-season, and Val Thorens's population consists of the all year round population (mainly families with children at the local school), and construction workers.
The big projects are the new Chalet des Neiges, finishing the Hameau de Kashmir apartments, and the Hotel Val Thorens renovation.
Summer landscape
Val Thorens was looking summery when we were there in late September, with just a little snow on the higher peaks. In the two photos below, you can see the tennis courts at the Rond Point des Pistes, and the gully of the Lac Blanc/Béranger piste.

Construction
Building projects are going on in Val Thorens. The Hameau du Kashmir, the new Montagnettes résidence at the entrance to the resort, is being completed in time for the ski season. The Hotel Val Thorens is undergoing extensive renovation, to re-open as a 4 star hotel at the end of November 2012. And the new Chalet des Neiges, towards the bottom of the Plein Sud piste, is well under way - see the photo below. (It's due to open sometime in 2013).

Snowfall
On the night of Wednesday 26th September 2012, there was a snowfall down to resort level (see photo).
