Olympic send-off for Val Thorens athletes
Val Thorens has the honour of sending three athletes to the Olympic Games 2014 in Sochi. Adrien Théaux (men's downhill, super combined, and Super G), Chloé Trespeuch (women's snowboard cross), and Jean-Fred Chapuis (men's skicross), all from the Club des Sports in Val Thorens, are to compete in Sochi. The opening ceremony for the Games is tonight, 7th February 2014.

A special torchlit descent in Val Thorens was planned, to celebrate the start of the Games, but had to be cancelled due to poor weather.
The opening ceremony was at 20.14 Russian time (to mark the fact that they are the 2014 Games), 16.14 UK time, and 17.14 French time.
