Skicross World Cup, 9th January 2015, Val Thorens 

The Skicross World Cup event, postponed from December 2014, took place in Val Thorens today. (Another will follow tomorrow). Jean-Fred Chapuis, local favourite and Olympic champion, fought his way through to the final, where he was second to German Andreas Schauer. World Cup leader Marielle Thompson of Canada won the women's event.

A Skicross World Cup event took place in Val Thorens today, 9th January 2015. There was training on Wednesday 7th, qualification runs on Thursday 8th, then today, the skiers raced four at a time. 

The were 16 ladies taking part in quarter finals, reduced to 8 for the semi finals, and the final 4 in the final. Marielle Thompson of Canada was victorious in the final, to maintain her lead in the overall Skicross World Cup. Second was Canadian Georgia Simmerling, third Alizée Baron of France, and fourth Anna Holmlund of Sweden. See the results.

32 men were left after qualification, and they took part in elimination races, to leave a final which was won by Andreas Schauer of Germany, with local racer Jean-Fred Chapuis second, Johannes Rohrweck of Austria third, and German Daniel Bohnacker fourth.
